Halfpipe:
A channel constructed in the snow, which resembles a pipe cut longitudinally, utilized to catch air and perform tricks.

Handplant:
Handplant with one or two hands on the coping of the halfpipe.

Hardboot:
Boot with hard plastic shell for alpine boarding.

Heel-Lift:
Plate at the heel of plate bindings

Highback:
Rear part of a softbinding supporting the back of the leg and transfers the power to the backside-edge.

Hit:

Ho-ho:
Handplant with both hands.


Hucker:
One who throws himself/herself wildly through the air and does not land on his/her feet.

Impregnate/Imprägnieren:
To saturate a reinforcement (fiberglass, carbon, etc.) with resin.

Indy Air:
Trick, grabbing with the rear hand to the backside edge.

Insert:
Thread case in the board/ski core to mount binding screws.

Inverted Air:
All tricks where the head is beneath the level of the board.

ISF:
International Snowboard Federation:
The international federation of professional snowboarders.

Jib:
Describes a type of riding that resembles street skateboarding.

Judge:
Someone who is responsible for the scores at freestyle contests.

Jump:

Kicker:
Steep ski-jump, catapulting somebody quickly into air.

 
 
L


Laminate:
Reinforcement material, usually of fibreglass. Describes also the process putting together different sheets of materials.

Late:
A trick made late or just before landing, e.g. late 360.

Leash:
A retention device used to attach the snowboard to the front foot so that it doesn’t run away.

Lip:
The top edge portion of the halfpipe wall.

Lip Trick:
Trick made on or near the lip.
