Sandwich-Construction:
Term of the construction of a ski/snowboard with different layers of material and normally use of a wood-core. Construction of the highest quality level. See also torsionbox and vertical-lam.

Swallow-tail:
V-formed shape of a Powder-Boards,

Scoot:
Bending of the nose

Shape:
Geometry of a board/ski resp. waist fitting.

Shred Betty:
Female snowboarder

Sidecut:
The difference between the width of the ski/board at the widest point (usually near the nose) and the narrowest point (usually in the middle of the ski/board).

Sidewall:
Usually made of ABS, connecting and seals the topsheet to the edges of a board.

Sintered base:
High molecular-weight base formed by heating and compression of small fragments of P-tex. Sintered bases absorb and hold wax better and are more durable than extruded bases, but very expensive.

Skiboard:
Short-ski with max. 100 cm length, mainly twin-tip construction, a kind of mini-snowboard of both legs for ultimative carving fun.

Slam:
Uncontrolled fall

Slide:
Sliding of a rail, coping etc.

Slush:
A wet snow

Snowblade:
Short carving ski up to max. 100 cm length

Snowskate:
Brand name of GASPO Snowblades; see also snowblade;

Softbinding:
Binding for softboots

Spin:
Rotational jump

Stance:
Distance between front and rear binding

Step-In
Self-closing binding

Style:
Individual kind of riding a snowboard by a snowboarder

Sublimation:
A process by which graphics are transferred into the pores of a material using heat and special inks. Also called thermo-transfer-printing.
